1924 Demountable #2An Innovative Keep-It-Clean Machine
The main feature of this interesting typewriter is that it was designed for easy disassembly. The carriage and the surrounding housing can be quickly removed, making the keybars easily accessible for cleaning.
While ease of cleaning sounded like a great idea, that feature never achieved much traction in the marketplace. A definite disadvantage of the dismountable construction was that the ribbon spools, which needed to be changed regularly, required that the heavy housing had to be lifted off the base, something most typists did not like to do.
Another unusual feature is that the key levers and basket move up and down with the shift keys, while the ribbon and carriage remained stationary.
