Beautiful, Precision German Portable

The 1936 Erika #5 uses a German-modified Qwerty, 44-key, frontstrike impact mechanism.

This machine made by the Seidel & Naumann company also produced sewing machines, bicycles, adding machines and calculators.

This type writer includes excellent decals and a modified QWERTY keyboard. The machine includes an extendable paper bail with index markings. It also incorporates for the first time single, double and triple line space settings, a margin release key, a ribbon reverse lever and a carriage lock.

Also included are tri-colored ribbon settings with a stencil setting as well. Also new with this model are platen "click" stops or a free-turning setting.

As a matter of convenience in purchasing ribbon spools, this machine requires nonstandard .2” diameter (13/64”) ribbon spool holes.

While the machine itself is in good shape, the case is in poor condition and includes a snap-off baseboard.
